Social life & taking part after a stroke in the canton of Fribourg

After a stroke, friendships, hobbies and everyday life change – and many people affected and their families feel alone with that. Self-help groups, meeting places and aphasia groups bring together people who have been through the same thing. The exchange is often the best answer to the question "Is this normal?".

Sport and exercise for people with paralysis, leisure and culture without barriers, advice on sexuality and partnership or on fitness to drive after a stroke: all of this is part of participation. Many offers are free or supported by foundations.

Family members find their own groups and courses here. Anyone who cares for someone needs people they can talk to openly – that is not a weakness but part of the task.
